Hi, I'm Betty! I'm a 7-year-old girl with a sweet, sensitive soul, and I'm learning that the world can be a pretty wonderful place when you have someone patient and kind by your side.<br/><br/>I've been in my foster home since mid-August, and my foster mom says I've made tremendous progress! When I first arrived, I was so scared that I wouldn't even come out of my carrier. I didn't want to eat, had no idea what a leash was, and human touch was just too frightening for me to let anyone close. My foster mom understood that I needed time, so she gave me a quiet room where I could decompress and feel safe.<br/><br/>One of the best things about my new life was meeting my foster sister, Milly, a 57-pound Staffie. Every morning, she would stop by my room to check on me, and I really liked having her around. Sometimes, having a furry friend nearby makes all the difference!<br/><br/>After about three weeks, I was ready to venture out and explore. My foster mom started taking Milly and me on morning walks. At first, the leash was a mystery, but I quickly figured out that it wasn't scary after all! It meant I could go outside, enjoy the fresh air, and do one of my favorite things: sniff, sniff, sniff!<br/><br/>Before long, I was exploring the backyard off-leash, running around, and discovering another favorite pastime: sunbathing! If there's a sunny spot to lounge in, you can bet I'll find it.<br/><br/>My adventures have continued, and my walks have gotten longer. I'm even learning to handle some of life's noisier surprises, like cars, passing trains, and lawn mowers. They're not my favorite things just yet, but I'm getting more comfortable every day. My confidence is growing, one little victory at a time.<br/><br/>And guess what? I've discovered that the sofa is a pretty wonderful place, especially when my foster mom and Milly are there with me. I once found human touch terrifying but now I let my foster mom hold me and give me tight hugs! I've come so far, and I'm learning that love can feel safe, too.<br/><br/>I'm looking for a forever home with someone who understands that the best relationships take time to grow. I may need a little patience as I continue discovering the world, but I promise that every small step forward is something special. A calm, quiet, loving home where I can feel safe, build confidence at my own pace, enjoy leisurely walks, soak up the sunshine, and snuggle on the sofa would be a dream come true.<br/><br/>I'm 7 years young, and I still have so much love and life ahead of me.
