At just nine weeks old and weighing approximately eight pounds, Blaze is one handsome little Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix! I came up with the name Blaze because of the distinctive white line running up and down his nose, a marking that in dog terminology is known as a blaze. It's complemented by his predominantly black coat, a beautiful white chest, and little toes accented with the silver-mottled coloring characteristic of cattle dogs. Look a little closer and you'll also notice subtle chocolate-brown highlights around his neck and shoulders that make his coloring even more distinctive. But Blaze isn't just a pretty face. He's an affectionate, attentive little fellow who seems happiest when he's close to his people. He enjoys his puppy pen, where he happily entertains himself with his chew toys and especially his favorite brown teddy bear, but given the choice, he'll usually prefer your company. Blaze is already showing some promising qualities that suggest he could grow into a wonderful companion for an active household. On our early walks, he has demonstrated a surprising willingness to stay right alongside me, comfortably keeping pace even when I pick up the speed. Rather than wandering off to investigate every distraction, he seems much more interested in staying close and following along. It's an encouraging first glimpse of a puppy who may grow into a terrific walking, hiking, or jogging companion as he matures. He's also beginning to learn the basics of crate training, responding to encouragement and the promise of a little treat when he goes inside. Of course, he's still a very young puppy with plenty to learn, but one thing is already apparent: Blaze is a sweet, affectionate cuddler who loves settling in for some quiet time with his favorite human. If you're looking for an adorable little companion with a loving disposition and the potential to become your next great adventure partner, Blaze might just be the puppy you've been waiting for!
