About Augustus

Meet Augustus, a remarkable Standard Poodle who has endured so much yet still has so much love to give. Now around 7 years old, Augustus arrived as a stray at CACC, and his story is heartrending. His severely matted coat and emaciated body told a tale of neglect. On top of that, he had a grapefruit-sized tumor on his testicles. We may never know his past, but it’s clear that no dog should have to suffer like he did. When he first came to us, Augustus battled an upper respiratory infection and troubling neurological symptoms that left him unable to stand. But in an inspiring turn, he began to walk again after moving to a loving foster home where he received the care he needed. His tumor has been removed, giving him some relief as we await the biopsy results. Augustus is still a little wobbly but has made incredible strides. He’s a sweetheart with good energy and gets along well with other dogs, children, and even ignores cats. Potty training is going smoothly with a consistent schedule; however, he can be a bit nervous in the car. Underneath all he has been through is a gentle soul whose trust still shines through as he seeks companionship. He enjoys simply being near his foster mom and finds comfort in her presence. Augustus deserves a forever home filled with love and compassion. He wants to know he will always be cared for and never have to feel alone again. Let’s make sure the rest of his days are filled with happiness. Keep him in your thoughts as he continues to heal; his happily ever after starts now.
