Maui is a 12-year-old female terrier mix located in Portland, OR. She is small, weighing just 8 pounds and has a wiry coat in apricot and beige. Maui is spayed and has her vaccinations up to date. She is house trained and has recently received normal senior blood work. Maui also has a heart murmur but does not require treatment at this time. She's affectionate and looking for a cozy home.

About Maui

Maui is an 8-pound, 12-year-old terrier mix with a brave heart. She walks up to dogs much larger than herself and believes every person she meets is a potential friend. After her previous owner passed away, Maui quickly won over everyone at the shelter with her sweet demeanor. We welcomed her into our care to address her dental needs, and she’s feeling much better now. This little lady has a heart murmur but her recent blood test revealed no significant heart disease. She does have a bit of arthritis but manages well with daily anti-inflammatory medication. At home, she gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats. Maui is house trained, with just a few minor accidents early on. Walks are a joy for her, and she stays calm and composed on the leash, rarely barking. Her happiest moments are spent curled up on a couch or preferably in someone’s lap. Maui does have some separation anxiety and has started a course of fluoxetine (Prozac) to help her adjust. Ideally, she would thrive in a home where someone is around frequently, perhaps even at work with them. She is heartworm negative and up to date on her flea and heartworm preventatives.
