Meet Marshmallow. This one-year-old Maltese is in Kansas City, MO, seeking a foster-to-adopt home. Marshmallow enjoys chasing balls, going for walks, and brightening his people’s days. His previous owners struggled to meet his needs, and he found unfamiliar people and situations challenging. After a three-week board and train, he shined as a star student and won over the trainer, who is now his current foster. In her care, he has made friends with dogs of all sizes and has warmed up to the resident cats. Marshmallow is great in his crate, walks well on a leash, knows several commands, and is largely potty trained, with only occasional marking indoors. It's important for his future family to understand his history. Marshmallow has been known to react to strangers with lunging and biting, though without breaking skin. While these behaviors weren’t observed during his training stay, he still requires someone who can continue his training, respect his boundaries, and offer him the time he needs to adjust. He’s also muzzle trained. A home without young children is preferred, or one with older, dog-savvy kids who can appreciate his space. His new owner should be comfortable managing introductions and ready to provide consistent training and support. His current foster has generously offered follow-up training assistance to help get his future family started.
