About Poppi

Poppi is a wonderful canine who has devoted the last few months to caring for her puppies, all of whom have now found their forever homes. Now it’s time for her to shine. She appeared as a stray on a farm in northeast Alabama, but when the family sought help at a local shelter, they were informed she might face euthanasia. Instead, they brought her home and soon realized she was pregnant with nine puppies, though sadly, only five survived. At about 3 to 4 years old, Poppi shows signs of resilience, having likely been through this before. Despite her past, Poppi can be a bit shy with new people. However, once she feels safe, her loyalty and affection overflow. After one week with her foster, she was already greeting them with excitement at the door. Poppi currently needs some guidance on her manners, as she has a lot of love to give. While she’s curious about other dogs, she has shown some defensiveness during introductions, suggesting she might do best as the only adult dog in her new home initially. Exceptions apply for puppies; in fact, she adores them and might be open to welcoming a younger companion after settling in. Poppi enjoys walks, does well on a leash, and is fully potty trained. However, she’s known to chase cars and squirrels, so this needs monitoring. She's comfortable in her crate and can be left unsupervised with a toy to keep her entertained. Having a fenced yard would enhance her quality of life, providing a safe area for outdoor exploration. For interested adopters located within a couple of hours of Chattanooga, a foster-to-adopt arrangement might be possible, allowing time to bond before a permanent commitment. Poppi has given her all to ensure her puppies found their new families, and now it's her turn to be cared for.
