Meet Vondie! Vondie is the most adorable 3-month-old houndy mix pup, and those long, velvety ears and gentle brown eyes are enough to melt anyone’s heart! Sweet Vondie started life on the streets with her mom and siblings, in a rough part of town where every meal was something they had to search for. Food and water weren’t guaranteed, and she learned early that staying hidden was the safest way to protect herself from people, cars, and other animals. Then Vondie got lucky enough to step into one of our traps — and her whole world changed. When she first arrived, Vondie was absolutely terrified. She would hide and tremble, unsure of this strange new place and the people trying to help her. But there was one thing she never hesitated about: food. When a meal was offered, she would gobble up every bite, worried it might be the last one she’d get. It didn’t take long for Vondie to figure out that meals here come on a schedule... and that her belly is going to stay full. Once she realized she was safe, something amazing happened — she BLOOMED! That scared little puppy turned into a sweet, wiggly girl who loves attention, praise, and being told what a good girl she is. She loves playing with her puppy friends, absolutely adores toys (and seems genuinely amazed that she gets to keep them!), and she’s even learning that car rides aren’t so scary after all. Vondie is doing wonderfully with her crate and house-training, and she is incredibly gentle with kids, cats, and other dogs. She’s a smart little girl who learns quickly and is eager to please. Vondie has already shown us just how resilient she is. She went from having to fend for herself on the streets to discovering the simple joys of a soft bed, a full belly, a favorite toy, gentle words, and people who love her. And she appreciates ALL of it. Vondie knows what it’s like to go without, which makes watching her discover the good life even more special. She may need someone who is willing to take things a little slowly at first and earn her trust with patience, kindness, and plenty of praise — but once Vondie decides you’re her person, you’ll have one incredibly loyal little best friend.
