About Toby

Meet Toby, a charming 6.3 lb male Maltese mix looking for a quiet place to call home. At around 4 years old, he is mostly blind, but he can see shadows and navigates with a gentle resilience. Toby's story began in Del Rio, Texas, where he found himself in a shelter after losing his previous owner. Fortunately, he was rescued and is now ready for a fresh start with a loving family. Toby is sweet and gentle, often described as quiet as a mouse. He’s not very active or playful, and while he may not understand dog toys, he truly understands love. He will melt into your arms when held, and he thrives on companionship. Toby is housebroken and potty pad trained, and he should have access to a small space or room while you’re away as he doesn't do well in crates. He is comfortable during car rides, but loud noises and thunderstorms can be frightening for him. He gets along well with other dogs but would do best in a calm home without young children or overly energetic pets. Toby has long, soft fur that requires regular brushing and grooming.
