About Ava
Meet Ava, a tiny girl with a big heart who needs someone to believe in her. Unlike many pets who shower affection right away, Ava's journey toward trust will take patience and kindness due to her past. This 5-year-old, 7-pound spayed female Miniature Pinscher mix has faced more than any little dog should. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Kentucky, Ava has never experienced proper care or a loving home. For her, the world can be intimidating. Initially a fear biter, Ava learned to defend herself to survive, reacting to fear by nipping. With a calm and encouraging foster home, she began to trust. When she feels safe, Ava loves to be close to her people, staying right by your side during daily activities. Underneath her timid exterior is a loyal companion eager for love. It's essential to know that Ava is still a work in progress. She is sensitive when it comes to handling, especially with her collar or gear, and may nip defensively. A friendly resident dog will help her feel more secure, alongside a completely secure fenced yard since she is a flight risk. Ava is also good with cats but requires an adult-only household and should not be around children. While Ava is making strides in crate training, she still needs patience in her housetraining journey. Her ideal forever home is calm, celebrates small victories, and gives her the time she needs to flourish. Ava is just waiting for the right person to help her find peace, security, and love.
