Alaska has a story that tugs at the heartstrings. Rescued from desperate circumstances, she was found with her puppies beneath a storm drain, showing remarkable strength as she kept them alive. When help arrived, her puppies were taken, but she was left behind, an oversight that still feels appalling. Thankfully, she was eventually rescued and made her way to Rhode Island after undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Now, Alaska is gentle and slightly shy, but incredibly sweet. She thrives around other dogs and gets along well with cats, too. She enjoys conversation—talk to her about anything, and she'll appreciate the warmth. Alaska is still learning how to walk on a leash and can be startled by sudden movements, especially those above her head. To truly thrive, she needs a patient owner who can provide her a sense of security. A friendly dog companion could help her settle into her new environment. Despite her past, Alaska has retained her capacity for love. She seeks affection and enjoys being near people.
