About Snoopy

Snoopy is a unique character who's been through a lot before finding his way here. At about 5-7 years old and weighing 15.0 lbs, he’s a small Shih Tzu with striking white and cream fur, accented by black patches. He has a story that’s far from typical; discovered tied outside a vet's office in Brooklyn, he bounced between homes and didn’t receive the medical attention he needed for his orthopedic issues. Despite this, Snoopy shines as a friendly extrovert who delights in his collection of toys. He has a strong preference for affection to be on his terms, needing to initiate contact to feel secure. He does experience mild arthritis and hip dysplasia, and although he's managed with medication, he’s sensitive about having his back end touched. Snoopy thrives in an adult-only household. He shows a preference for women and can be a bit wary of men, which means any male household members should be prepared for his reflexive barking until he recognizes them. He gets along well with calm dogs, as long as they respect his space. Currently fostered in New York, NY, Snoopy is open to local or out-of-state adoptions, with a requirement for a meet-and-greet.
