About Taz
Meet Taz! Taz has spent much of his life outside, and now he’s ready to discover life as a cherished companion. He came to us from a high-kill shelter in Los Angeles, where he was suffering from a significant skin infection that had been neglected. Thanks to attentive veterinary care, regular baths, and a lot of TLC, Taz's condition is improving, his coat is looking healthier, and he’s steadily putting on weight. He’s made remarkable progress! Taz thrives under structure and consistency; he needs an experienced handler who understands how to set clear expectations. He's happiest when he knows what’s expected of him. Taz is food motivated, enjoys training, and walks nicely on a leash. Whether it's sitting for his dinner, practicing recall, or responding to a simple "let's go" on walks, he flourishes when engaged. He enjoys being handled, has been a trooper throughout his skin treatments, and is resilient in the face of his past. Taz loves outdoor activities, especially hiking, and he could get along with a calm female dog if introductions are managed properly. A few important things to know about Taz: he requires an experienced dog owner, enjoys structure in training, walks well on a leash, and has some resource-guarding behaviors that we are actively working on. His future adopter will need to be comfortable continuing this training while supporting his growth. Taz isn't looking for pity; he seeks someone who understands him and can appreciate the joy of building a relationship with a dog that truly enjoys the learning process. He has made incredible strides already, and we’re excited to find someone who can help him continue this journey. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
