About Mildred

Meet Mildred, or Millie as she’s affectionately known. This special cat is on the lookout for just the right home after a challenging start to life. Millie's journey began outdoors, caring for her kittens near a senior living community. By the time she arrived at the rescue, she had already navigated several litters, spending her early years in what can only be described as 'mom mode'. Therefore, she deserves a chance to be cared for herself. When she first entered foster care, Millie adapted well, demonstrating a nurturing spirit toward her kittens. However, during veterinary visits, we uncovered her intense fear response to feeling trapped. For instance, a simple trip to the vet caused her distress, leading to her hiding and refusing to care for her babies temporarily. In another instance, an attempt to transport her resulted in her biting due to the panic of being handled. This highlights the importance of understanding her boundaries. Despite these challenges, Millie has shown signs of progress. Often you can hear her friendly meows as she greets her foster family, and she now seeks out gentle pets. Quick movements and loud noises can still startle her, so patience will be key. An ideal home for Millie would be quiet, low-traffic, and free of the expectation to be picked up or handled. Her new owner would need to recognize her stress signals and work carefully with her limitations instead of pushing her beyond them. A unique aspect of Millie’s case is the potential for an indoor/outdoor setup, given her history. However, this would need to be carefully considered with her safety as the priority. Millie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. While she has been caring for others, it is time for her to experience love and security on her own terms. Could you provide that for her? This loving cat is waiting for her chance to thrive. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
