About Rye Bagel
Meet Rye Bagel! This gentle soul was rescued from San Diego after his owner passed away, leaving him without a home. Initially living in an outdoor kennel with around 13 dogs, he’s now enjoying a fresh start thanks to the Foundation for Care of Indigent Animals. They made sure he was neutered, updated on vaccinations, received a dental cleaning, and had a thorough vet examination. A small growth was removed from his leg, but it was nothing serious. Though he was believed to be 16 years old, a vet suggests he's actually around 10 to 12. Rye Bagel enjoys leisurely walks, loves observing the world from his favorite window spot, and takes peaceful naps. He’s friendly with both people and dogs, and has proven to be a delight in his foster home. Bagel has shown kindness towards kids, loves to cuddle, and is well-mannered when food is being prepared, patiently waiting without any attempts to sneak a bite. He still needs some training and prefers to sleep on a blanket or bed outside of a crate. He's mostly house-trained and does beautifully with overnight stays. Rye Bagel is on the lookout for a forever home in Southern California and may fit best as the only dog, or in a home ready to introduce him to others slowly. He has done well with neighborhood dogs and at adoption events, but supervision during those interactions is key.
