About Oreo

Meet Oreo! This spirited eleven-year-old Terrier mix is currently in Madison Heights, MI, and his affectionate personality shines through his striking black-and-white coat. Weighing about 30 pounds, Oreo is a medium-sized boy who adores companionship and has a playful enthusiasm for life. He loves exploring, being petted, curling up close, and showering those he trusts with kisses. Despite being a senior, he approaches each day with youthful energy and enjoys both yard time and walks. Oreo is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and knows commands like 'sit.' He’s a smart fellow who would thrive with some positive reinforcement while he works on his leash skills. Oreo does have a strong prey drive and loves to chase squirrels, so he needs a securely fenced yard to explore safely. It's best for him to live in a home without cats, as he tends to chase them. Oreo can be selective about other dogs; he previously shared a home with a calm Shih-Tzu for two years and could coexist peacefully with the right dog after proper introductions. Regular walks will help satisfy his curiosity and love for exploration. An adult-only home without young children is ideal for Oreo. He enjoys giving kisses but can get anxious with loud noises, preferring a quiet environment. He needs careful management around food, as he can be possessive and may become anxious during mealtimes. An experienced pet parent who can provide structure and supervision will help him feel secure. Oreo is generally relaxed when left alone for short periods, although he can become anxious with fireworks and storms. He sheds a bit and benefits from grooming every two to three weeks. Having lost a few teeth and experiencing a past ACL joint problem, he currently remains active with no other health concerns. Oreo is ready for a next chapter filled with cuddles and companionship. Could this clever, loving senior be the joyful companion you've been searching for? Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
