About Rufus

Rufus is an approximately 2-year-old, 70–80 lb lovable goofball eager to discover what a forever home feels like. He was dumped about six months ago, and while his past is a mystery, he has come so far since then. Initially timid in new situations, he warms up to show his sweet and playful nature, especially once he feels secure. This big boy loves to run, play, and enjoy zoomies! Due to his size and energy, he would thrive in a home with older children who can handle his enthusiasm without getting knocked over. Rufus is still learning about the world around him. He’s improving his leash manners but can be nervous when meeting unfamiliar dogs, preferring to keep his distance initially. It’s worth noting that baths aren’t his favorite, but he will tolerate one when necessary, though nail trims are currently a definite no for him. Underneath his cautious demeanor lies a silly, affectionate spirit who needs a loving, patient family to build his confidence. Having been left behind once, Rufus deserves a home that will never let him go again. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
