About Maverick

Maverick, a 3.5-year-old neutered male, is currently waiting for a loving home in Martinez, CA. This handsome Retriever/Doberman mix, weighing around 55 pounds, was saved from a euthanasia list and has blossomed in a foster environment. He exudes warmth and affection, looking for someone who appreciates loyal companionship and quiet moments. Maverick is house-trained and crate-trained, making him a gentleman indoors. His easygoing nature shines as he walks nicely on a leash, often stopping to sniff and enjoy his surroundings. Those adorable puppy-dog eyes truly capture his gentle spirit. He relishes being close to his human, often leaning for affection or resting his head on laps during cozy moments on the couch. Friendly and social with other dogs, Maverick prefers peaceful cohabitation; he doesn’t need a canine companion to be content. He hasn't lived with cats but shows a polite curiosity towards them on walks—an ideal home would be cat-free or introduce him slowly to feline friends. Previously comfortable around children, Maverick would thrive best with kids aged 12 and older who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs. He enjoys squeaky and rope toys, and a sunny spot for lounging is his bliss.
