Meet Luca! At around 4 months old, Luca is a young shepherd mix with plenty of personality packed into his playful frame. Now that he's in a foster home, we’re learning more about the terrific dog he is becoming. He's not only sweet and affectionate but also wicked smart. Whether he's hanging out in the backyard while you do chores or jumping into activities like playtime and training, he’s ready for it all. His confidence is on the rise—just recently, he’s tackled the stairs like a pro with a bit of encouragement. Training has been going well. Luca knows how to sit, down, drop, and wait, among other commands. He's learning that patience is key, especially at mealtime when he must sit politely until he’s released to eat. At home, Luca is adjusting nicely to his kennel routine. He may bark or whine now and then, but he’s getting more comfortable every day. Potty training is still in progress; while he might not signal when he needs to go out, keeping him on a consistent schedule helps. Expect to guide him gently as he learns. Luca hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t adore, although his puppy teeth occasionally challenge his choice of chew items. With proper redirection, he's learning what's appropriate. He’s recently been neutered and is on all necessary medication, signaling good health moving forward. As for cats, his curiosity gets the best of him. He shares his foster home with a resident cat, and they are working on proper boundaries, ensuring the cat has safe spaces away from his excitement.
