About Maria

Meet Maria, affectionately known as Ahjumma. At 16 years old, she finds herself looking for a new home, a surprise twist in her journey. Life has brought her to C.A.R.E., where she hopes to be seen for the love she still has to give, rather than her age or medical history. Maria is a gentle spirit. She may not rush to greet you, but she enjoys your quiet company and appreciates gentle pets. Maria has a mild case of hyperthyroidism that requires her medicine twice a day, but she takes it like a champ. Though she's a picky eater, her food tastes come with a side of companionship—having someone nearby while she eats makes her feel secure. She prefers a calm home without other cats, where she can maintain her pace and find serenity. While she might not be a kitten, she’s got so much to offer a patient person willing to give her a soft spot to land. Maria just wants a stable place to rest her head, gentle attention, and the reassurance that she truly belongs somewhere. If you have room in your heart for a lovely older cat, Maria might just be waiting for you to take her home. Every day is a new hope for her; could yours be the one?
