About Mackey

Mackey is the kind of puppy who sees an open car door and views it as a ticket to adventure. This energetic, playful boy is happiest when snuggled beside his people, yet he’s become bolder, exploring the world around him. As a mixed-breed pup, Mackey is making great strides in his training. He eagerly enters his crate when asked and settles down, a noticeable improvement from when he first arrived. While he’s still learning to sit patiently for meals, his food enthusiasm sometimes gets the better of his manners. He gets along well with other dogs, adores the resident cat in his foster home, and is respectful around chickens while ignoring the goats. With his passion for play and love for car rides, Mackey would be a perfect fit for someone looking for a young companion to join them on everyday adventures. He has also shown he can relax independently, making him suitable for an active household. Mackey came into rescue after a car accident and has received excellent care during his recovery. Now, he’s ready for what’s next and eager to find his forever home. Though he’s not available for immediate adoption, pre-approval applications are being accepted. Mackey can be transported to Long Island (West Islip area) and is accessible to adopters throughout Long Island and the greater New York region. Most adopters are within a one to two-hour drive of our transport meeting sites, and pickup details can be coordinated upon adoption.
