Meet Basil, a 6-year-old male Basset Hound with floppy ears, a gentle demeanor, and an abundance of affection to offer. His family has loved him since he was just 4 months old but can no longer provide the attention he needs. Basil is still with his original family, and we're eager to find him a foster-to-adopt home to keep him out of boarding while we get his veterinary care up to date. He weighs approximately 50 pounds and has a beautiful apricot and white coat. Basil enjoys lounging around, sniffing out new places, and indulging in jerky treats. He is housebroken and needs potty breaks every four hours. He generally gets along with other dogs, although he can show dominance at times, and tends to ignore cats. Basil walks well on a leash and enjoys baths, but he isn't crate trained yet. He does need an adult-only environment due to his sensitivity around nail trims, as he has nipped during them before. Regular bathroom breaks and a patient owner willing to help him adjust will help him thrive in his new home.
