Rocket is a lively 4-year-old Malinois/Dutch Shepherd mix who thrives on activity but knows how to unwind at home once he's had his fun. He enjoys playing fetch and tug, and he’s particularly fond of swimming—just toss a toy in the water, and he’ll be diving in after it. This handsome guy needs a cat-free home as he doesn't get along with them, but he can coexist peacefully with calm, respectful dogs that give him space. Rocket is friendly and gentle with people, including kids, though his size and energetic play make a home without young children more suitable. He's eager to be close to his humans, quick to learn, and responds well to motivation with toys. While he walks reasonably well on a leash, he sometimes needs reminders not to tug. Although he tends to ignore other dogs while out, he might chase cats but can be redirected easily. Currently, Rocket is heartworm positive and is scheduled for treatment soon. His new adopter will need to transport him to the San Antonio Pets Alive medical clinic and help him stay calm during recovery.
