About Boots
Meet Boots! This affectionate boy has adorable white-tipped paws and is likely a shepherd/spitz mix with a warm gray coat. At around 12 to 18 months old and weighing about 50 pounds, he still carries a playful puppy energy. Boots' journey began when he found himself at BARC in Houston, TX. He was placed on the euthanasia list just two days after being rescued due to overcrowding. Scared and unsure of his surroundings, his prospects seemed grim, but he was granted a second chance. With time and love, Boots is gradually emerging from his protective shell. Now in foster care in St. Paul, Minnesota, he's adapting well to home life. Boots gets along great with other dogs and benefits from their companionship—though he may thrive as an only dog too. He’s sweet and gentle, warming up to people with a little patience. His playful little nibbles are signs of affection, and his foster mom is guiding him with appropriate chew toys. This smart pup is food-driven and eager to learn. He's already picked up the command ‘sit’ by observing the other dogs in his foster home. To help him thrive, continual training, supervision, and structure are essential. Boots loves long walks, enjoys playing, and has a bit of a prey drive when it comes to squirrels and rabbits, but he settles well for cozy naps afterward. He’s shown he can coexist peacefully with cats and would likely do well with respectful children when introduced properly. Boots has already come so far from being a frightened shelter dog. Now, he’s seeking a loving family who can help him build his confidence and joy in life. Click apply to start the adoption process.
