About Pennie
Pennie is a charming 2-year-old, 45 lbs female Irish Setter mix looking for her forever home after recently caring for nine puppies. House trained and a good sleeper, she prefers to avoid a crate and is generally quiet, only getting vocal during meal times or when seeking attention. On walks, she’s well-mannered but will stop to admire squirrels or small birds, sometimes trying to chase them. Although she enjoys the company of other dogs, she may initially be a bit guarded during introductions, and she would be perfectly happy as the only dog. Pennie hasn’t lived with cats but isn’t bothered by them during walks. She’s friendly with everyone she meets but hasn’t been tested with small children yet. Riding in the car is no problem for her and she will hop in willingly. To keep her happy, she needs frequent walks and some mental stimulation. Given her medium energy level, she’s also content to relax with you on the couch. She’s easily startled by loud noises but interestingly, thunderstorms don’t faze her. Pennie is currently heartworm positive but is on a treatment protocol, which is manageable, and she can still enjoy regular activities without issues. This delightful dog is sweet and loving, always wanting to be close to her person.
