About Chewbacca
Chewbacca, or Chewy as he’s affectionately called, has faced some challenges in his journey. Rescued from the shelter in January 2026 after being labeled as bitey, he has been returned multiple times by families who didn't grasp that some dogs need time to feel secure. With his sensitive nature, this 13 lb. Shih Tzu takes a while to warm up but reveals a playful personality once he feels safe. In a quieter home, you'll witness his joyful antics as he throws his bed around and relishes his toys, especially when treats are involved. While he's crate trained and enjoys having his own space, he needs a patient owner who understands that trust is built gradually. Chewy prefers being fed separately and thrives in a calm environment with minimal visitors. He's not keen on strangers and would thrive best in a home without small children. Chewy is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and microchipped. He’s currently fostered in Kissimmee, FL, while waiting for the right forever home. His adoption fee is $200.
