About Ivy

Ivy has overcome incredible odds to be here with you. At just three years old, she arrived at the county shelter feeling terrified and overwhelmed. Although it was a struggle for her to eat and adjust to the chaos around her, tiny glimpses of her true personality began to emerge. She sought reassurance from handlers and gently accepted treats, showing a spark beneath her fear. After being put on the euthanasia list, Ivy got a second chance with Rescue Street but soon faced another challenge: a hospitalization for double pneumonia. Thankfully, she pulled through and returned with a zest for life. Ivy is now affectionate, playful, and curious, and she has a special fondness for squeaky toys, approaching each one with joy. She’s eager to share playtime, from fetching to tug-of-war. She knows how to sit, is potty trained, and enjoys her crate at night for a peaceful sleep. Taking walks is an adventure for Ivy. She’s good on the leash and loves exploring, although her enthusiasm sometimes means she gets a bit too excited around other dogs. With training, she has learned to settle and make good choices, especially around calm companions. It's best to introduce any potential canine housemates thoughtfully, as she doesn’t get along with cats at this time. With the right guidance and understanding, Ivy becomes the sweet, tender dog everyone loves, eager for connection and wanting to do things right.
