About Tex

Meet Tex! This lively two-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix is currently in Amherst, MA. His energetic spirit perfectly matches his red-speckled coat. Weighing in around 35 pounds, he thrives on connection and loves keeping you company throughout your day. Tex is wonderfully trained and responsive. He knows commands like sit, stay, and place, and enjoys learning through positive reinforcement. House-trained and crate-trained, he settles well alone, often watching the world from the window. He loves his daily walks, fetch games, and runs where he can stretch his legs! Affectionate and loyal, Tex forms strong bonds with his caregivers, showing his love by staying close and relishing shared moments. He adapts well to new people, doing wonderfully with those he hadn't met before. Tex is friendly with other dogs, displaying a playful energy in their interactions. He recently shared space with a visiting canine companion, demonstrating his patience and easygoing personality. However, Tex has a strong herding instinct, especially around fast-moving children. Past overstimulation led to an incident that required medical attention, so he needs a home with adults or older teens who understand herding breeds and are committed to ongoing training. The right experienced home can really help him thrive. Tex would fit perfectly into an active household that can provide regular exercise, engagement, and learning opportunities. His next family should appreciate his energy and intelligence while helping him build confidence in a calm environment. Fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, Tex is ready to start his next chapter. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will walk alongside you through daily adventures, Tex could be the one for you! What are you waiting for? Apply today!
