About Oaken

Oaken is a senior German Wirehaired Pointer who found himself at animal control when his previous owner wanted him euthanized due to his tendency to run away. He moved from a large property to a smaller home without a fenced yard, which contributed to his attempts to escape. Thankfully, he is now safe with a foster home, where he has been neutered and is ready for a new start. This loyal dog thrives in active environments, especially those with experienced handlers. Oaken has spent much of his life participating in guided hunts, focusing on upland game and waterfowl, making him a great fit for a hunting household. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and is well-mannered indoors. Oaken would do best in a home without small children but is comfortable around older kids.
