Meet Rufus! If you’re looking for a dog who can keep up with you outside and then happily claim a spot on the couch afterward, Rufus might be your guy! Rufus is a 5-year-old Hound mix who found himself at the shelter after his previous owner could no longer care for him. Through no fault of his own, this sweet boy is searching for a new family who will give him the love, attention, and time he deserves. Rufus embodies the spirit of a true Hound—he would absolutely love a home with room to stretch his legs, sniff around, and enjoy some good old-fashioned running and exploring. After an adventure, he is more than happy to come inside and settle in next to his favorite person for some quality couch time. He does well with other dogs, so he may enjoy having a canine companion to share his adventures. Although he hasn’t been tested with cats yet, we can arrange an assessment before adoption if needed. We’re not completely sure if Rufus is housebroken yet, but he is a smart boy eager to learn; with a consistent routine and some patience, he will likely catch on quickly. Rufus is ready for a family that understands the value of having a companion who can be both your adventure buddy and your professional couch warmer.
