Meet Gunner, the dog everyone is going to ask you about. With his striking red-speckled coat and expressive ears, Gunner has a way of turning heads everywhere he goes. Don’t be surprised if strangers stop to inquire about his breed; they've already been doing just that! But Gunner is much more than a handsome face. He's a smart and playful boy who loves to keep both his body and mind active. Puzzle toys, treat games, and squeaky toys are his favorites. If it challenges him, he's all in. At the adoption center, he’ll even turn his food bowl into a toy when he’s looking for something fun. Gunner came to us after spending many months waiting in a municipal shelter. We were sure a dog this handsome would be adopted right away, yet he was overlooked. Since joining Lifeline, he's settled beautifully into a routine and continues to show us just how wonderful a companion he can be. He enjoys playing with other dogs, and has formed a sweet friendship with another dog at the center named Albus. They even play together through their kennel doors. Gunner walks well on a leash with a confident handler, rides nicely in the car, knows basic commands, and is eager to learn even more. At around four years old, Gunner strikes the perfect balance; he has moved beyond the wild puppy stage yet still carries plenty of youthful energy for walks, adventures, and playtime. If you're looking for a smart, athletic best friend to keep you smiling—and probably earn you compliments everywhere you go—Gunner may just be the right fit for you.
