Meet Cocoa! This sweet, sensitive 1-year-old Mastiff weighs around 90 pounds and is learning to navigate the world with less fear. When Cocoa was rescued, she was terrified, cowering in her kennel and hesitant to accept treats. With some patience, she revealed a loving personality, and by her first night in foster care, she was already cuddling on the couch with her foster family's daughters. As Cocoa has adjusted, her playful side shines through. She loves fetch and her favorite green rope ball, as well as games of tug. Cocoa has good house manners with just one accident noted and responds well to gentle redirection. She shares her home with an older female dog, which helps her feel secure, and they get along well. Cocoa's primary challenge lies in her confidence. She remains wary of unfamiliar people and dogs, particularly men. With a dedicated adopter, Cocoa can gradually expand her comfort zone. In time, she has begun to trust her foster dad, responding with wagging tails and playful approach for pets. Despite her initial fears, Cocoa is becoming accustomed to everyday experiences, including baths, though she still needs work on having her feet handled. Steep stairs are also a challenge she is learning to overcome. At home, Cocoa is affectionate, playful, and eager to please, making her a great companion for a patient family. A secure, fenced yard for her cherished games of fetch would be ideal. With love and time, Cocoa will blossom from a shy shelter dog to a devoted, tail-wagging sweetheart.
