Rome might be the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. This handsome two-year-old has had a challenging year; he was rescued as a stray and has been in shelter care since January. Understandably, he can be nervous around adult humans, but he has made great strides in his foster home. With continued patience and encouragement, he is sure to gain confidence each day. Rome adores other dogs and would flourish in a home with a confident canine companion to help him navigate new experiences. His personality truly shines during playtime, whether it's enjoying zoomies at the dog park or engaging in games of chase. He loves every bit of fun but also knows when to take a break and recharge on his own. There's nothing aggressive about Rome. He's quite the gentle soul; when his foster sister playfully tugs at his leg, he simply looks over as if to say, “I’m fine.” He’s delightful around food, allowing his sister to partake in meals without a fuss. Walks are enjoyable for him, though he can be startled by loud noises or sudden movements. A patient handler will be essential to help him feel secure during outings. A securely fenced yard would provide the perfect environment for him to run and unwind. At home, Rome appreciates gentle pets, snuggles, and grooming, finding comfort in his crate when feeling overwhelmed.
