About Petey

Petey is an 80-pound lovebug, and he's just as sweet as can be. Found as a stray near Pete Peterson Lodge at Lagoon Park, this big boy was rescued by a kind stranger who couldn't leave him behind. Despite his size, Petey exudes charm and affection. While at the shelter, he has shown he can be around other dogs, although he might need some time to adjust to new surroundings. We've noticed some thinning hair along his sides, likely due to his weight, but don't worry—vet evaluations have ruled out hypothyroidism. We're working to help him reach a healthier size, which will aid his overall well-being. But more than anything, Petey loves to be loved. He's on the lookout for someone to see past his extra pounds and appreciate the gentle soul he is. He's ready to share his love with the right forever home.
