About Liberty
Meet Liberty! This lovely girl found herself in a tough spot at a high-kill Houston shelter with her newborn puppies. Remarkably, she survived being placed on the euthanasia list six times, proving that she and her little family were meant for another chance when a foster stepped in to help. After raising her pups in a safe environment, Liberty is finally ready for her own home. At two years old and weighing around 40 pounds, Liberty is an Australian Cattle Dog mix with a pleasant medium energy level. She's playful, enjoys walks, and loves her toys but also knows how to kick back and relax with the people she treasures. Liberty's affection is quiet yet warm. Instead of bombarding you with attention, she gently scoots closer, hoping for head scratches or belly rubs. She’s house trained, working on her kennel training, and responds well to short sessions in her crate. Liberty is dog friendly and has enjoyed the company of canine pals, although she prefers her space during meals and when special toys are around. While on a leash, she can get overexcited upon spotting other dogs, but her food motivation makes her eager to learn how to stay calm. She’s not suited for a home with cats. Car rides are fine for Liberty, though she may experience some motion sickness on longer journeys. Liberty truly embodies the best qualities of a companion: playful yet calm, independent yet affectionate. With so much life ahead of her, she’s ready to embrace new experiences and share them with her forever friend. She’s currently fostered in Houston, Texas, and is available for adoption across the nation. Her $600 adoption fee covers transport to her forever home.
