About Vaquero
Vaquero is a 5-year-old black mouth curr mix who now weighs a healthy 46 lbs. He was discovered in bleak condition in October 2025 in Edinburg, a small town along the Texas/Mexico border. At that time, he was suffering from severe mange, had almost no hair, and was terrified, looking like he was close to giving up. It's disheartening to think how some dogs endure such neglect. Fast forward to today, and Vaquero is a transformed pup. His shy demeanor has melted away, replaced by eagerness and joy when meeting people. He thrives on affection and enjoys being petted. While he enjoys playtime, he also loves to unwind, embodying the perfect Netflix-and-chill companion. Treats? He can't get enough, and naps are always on his agenda. Vaquero interacts well with other dogs, making friends of all sizes, and he's also been introduced to cats without any issues. He adores car rides, often with his head out the window. Plus, he's house trained, so no worries there. Vaquero is neutered, heartworm negative, and fully up-to-date on vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and deworming. He's set to receive a clean bill of health from a vet before moving to his new home. Currently fostered by Pawsitive Impact Animal Rescue in Texas, his journey to a forever home could be your next adventure.
