Meet Baxter, an incredibly special 9-month-old Australian Shepherd! Baxter has overcome a challenging start in life, including an accident leading to the loss of a front leg. But don’t let that fool you—this happy-go-lucky pup is determined to enjoy every moment! He's known for his joyous spirit and loves to run and play, especially as he gains strength in his front leg. A social and curious boy, Baxter gets along great with various animals, including dogs and cats, and he enjoys the company of people and toys, especially when food is involved. He’s adaptable too; while he has limited eyesight and needs a bit of help learning new environments, he quickly finds his way once he gets his bearings. Due to his unique mobility needs, Baxter can navigate stairs going up, but he will need to be carried down for safety. His future family should be patient and ready to help him thrive in a safe space. He has shown no aggression and is very food motivated, which aids in his training. Currently, he’s doing well with house training. Although he’s full of puppy energy, Baxter's herding instincts are best suited for a home without young children. This loving dog would prefer to roam freely and sleep alongside his family rather than being kenneled for long periods. Baxter has faced tough times, but his zest for life remains unbroken. He seeks a special adopter ready to embrace his unique needs, offering a loving home in return for endless tail wags, playful antics, and cuddles. Are you ready to see how special he truly is?
