About Chestnut
Meet Chestnut! This handsome 3-year-old Basset Hound/Dutch Shepherd mix weighs about 40 pounds and is eager to find a loving family. Chestnut was rescued from the euthanasia list at the Hesperia Animal Shelter in California, giving him a chance to start anew. Now, heโs ready to move on from his past and embrace life in a caring home. Heโs sweet and friendly with everyone but may initially be a bit shy. With patience and time, his affectionate nature shines through. Once he feels at home, he shows just how endearing he can be. Chestnut gets along well with other dogs when heโs properly introduced, and he might enjoy the company of a canine companion who allows him to warm up at his own pace. He hasnโt met any cats yet, but we can facilitate introductions to see if he would fit in with feline housemates. He would benefit from ongoing leash training, so his new family should be prepared to spend time helping him build those skills. With positive reinforcement and patience, this smart boy will continue to grow in confidence and learn his new routines. Given that Chestnut can be shy, we recommend a home with children ages 8 and older who can give him space and understanding as he settles in. His adoption fee is $295, which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. If you're looking for a gentle companion who needs a little time to adjust, Chestnut may just be the perfect addition to your family! What are you waiting for? Apply today!
