About Boots
Meet Boots, a delightful shepherd/spitz mix with charming white-tipped paws. Approximately 12-18 months old and weighing 50 pounds, this handsome boy still has the playful energy characteristic of a young dog. His journey began on the streets of Houston, TX, where he faced an uncertain fate on the euthanasia list due to shelter overcrowding. Thankfully, he was rescued and is now beginning to flourish in his foster home in St. Paul, Minnesota. Boots has quickly adapted to the comforts of home life. He’s friendly and well-mannered with other dogs, showing an ability to read social cues effectively. While he would thrive with a confident canine companion to guide him, he could also thrive as an only dog. Though initially shy around new people, Boots reveals his affectionate and gentle nature with patience. His playful nibbles are a unique way he shows love, and his foster mom is helping him learn appropriate ways to express this. Smart and eager to learn, he is already mastering commands like 'sit' by observing the other dogs. Boots enjoys daily walks and playtime, though he has a bit of prey drive toward squirrels and rabbits. He settles down nicely afterward, often enjoying long naps. With his intelligence and activity level, a securely fenced yard and plenty of mental stimulation are essential for him. He’s been around cats without issues and could fit into a home with respectful children, with proper introductions. Boots has made remarkable progress from the frightened shelter dog he once was. Now, he needs a loving family willing to continue helping him build confidence and enjoy a wonderful life. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
