About Zeus
Meet Zeus, a sweet older gentleman who came to the Animal Care Centers of NYC after being found as a stray. He tends to be cautious at first, but once he feels comfortable, he’s happy to approach and enjoy some treats and affection. After a long stay at the shelter, his adoption fee has been reduced, making it a great time to visit and find out more about his favorite snacks and how to bring him home. Zeus would thrive best in a calm, patient household where he can take his time adjusting. A predictable routine and positive-reinforcement training will help him gain confidence and keep his curious mind engaged. His history with other dogs is a bit of a mystery—he's shown interest at the shelter but has had some overly enthusiastic moments during interactions. Therefore, slow introductions are key. Due to some resource guarding and mouthiness, ACC recommends that he be in an adult-only home. Zeus can be sensitive when feeling unsure, so it’s important to let him approach new people and situations at his own pace. He’s working on learning how to take treats politely and share his space, and with some patience and positive training, he can become a wonderful companion.
