Otis is a large, male cat, approximately 3 years and 9 months old. He has a predominantly white coat with some black markings and weighs around 13.2 lbs. Otis is neutered, and his vaccinations are up to date. Although he is not known to have special needs, he benefits from a calm environment and a patient adopter who can support his shy nature.

About Otis

Meet Otis! Otis came to Animal Care Centers after his owner sadly passed away, and he has been navigating all the sudden changes in his world. Although he feels unsure at times, he shows a gentle, tolerant nature. He allows handling, leans in for pets when comfortable, and explores at his own pace. Otis has a soft-spoken disposition, requiring a calm presence to reveal his sweetness. As his foster notes, Otis becomes very friendly once he gets to know someone. He's quite talkative and active, often following people around. He needs a home where someone can spend extended periods with him, providing plenty of playtime and stimulation. For Otis to thrive, a patient, cat-experienced home is ideal. Slow, predictable introductions will help him settle. He may start off timid, but with consistent, gentle encouragement, he opens up beautifully. Offering cozy hiding spots will aid in making him feel secure. Regarding children, older, respectful kids might be okay, but Otis can be easily startled, so a calm environment is best. His history with other pets is unknown, and given his gentle nature, he may do best as the only cat or with another calm feline introduced slowly. Overall, Otis is generally healthy. Although he is being treated for ear mites and has a healed corneal scar in one eye, he is stable in care. Experienced adopters are preferred as he needs time to build trust. Sudden movements can make him nervous, so adopters must be comfortable supporting a shy cat during his adjustment. Otis has a quiet, observant personality and enjoys gentle head rubs once he feels safe. He expresses joy with little "thank you tail lifts" as he warms up, showcasing his thoughtful nature during calm interactions. With patience, he will become a faithful, comforting presence in his new home. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and let’s get started.
