Meet Oscar, a young and striking buff-colored cat who’s ready for a new home. At just one year old, he embodies the spirit of a true champion, having overcome challenges that would’ve turned others away. His background mirrors that of his namesake, the famous boxer Oscar De La Hoya: both are fighters who thrive with the right support. Oscar arrived at Berea Animal Rescue Fund after being rescued from the streets, where he lived in a large cat colony. He endured hardships, including an injury to his ear, but thankfully received the veterinary care he needed to recover. Initially, the plan was for him to be part of a TNR program, which is designed to help community cats, but Oscar’s friendly nature quickly showed that he was far too sociable to return to life outdoors. Oscar has tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), a common condition among outdoor cats that cannot be transmitted to dogs or humans. With proper care, including a cozy indoor home, good nutrition, and lots of love, FIV-positive cats can lead long and fulfilling lives. Now, Oscars is ready to trade street struggles for a life filled with affection and stability. He simply needs someone to support him in his journey toward a brighter future.
