Rachel and Joe are a delightful bonded pair looking for a loving foster-to-adopt home. Rescued from a crowded county shelter, they depend heavily on one another for comfort and support. This duo is approximately 23 years old and has a unique story; Smokey Joe was born without a paw on one of his back legs, but that doesn’t hold him back from enjoying life. Both dogs are understandably timid at first and need time to build trust with their new family. With patience and understanding, they reveal their true, affectionate selves. They currently have specific needs: they cannot be left unsupervised outdoors as they may dig out, and they are not yet comfortable walking on a leash. A secure exercise pen inside a fenced yard can help them gradually adjust to leash training. The perfect home for them will have experience with shy or fearful dogs and no children under 10. They are friendly with both cats and other dogs! If you believe you can offer the compassionate environment they need, consider fostering to adopt this wonderful pair.
