Sweet little Betsy suffered such terrible neglect that she almost lost one of her legs. This four-year-old, 12 lb Shih Tzu arrived at a local county shelter in horrific condition with her fur so tightly matted around her legs that her circulation was almost cut off. Betsys front right paw was so swollen and infected that she narrowly avoided amputation. It took several weeks of antibiotics and other daily treatments to salvage her little paw. Betsys foster mom was committed to saving her leg and she ultimately accomplished her goal. Betsys rear legs are permanently deformed due to both malnutrition and neglect but as you can see in these videos, she gets around just fine. Betsy is full of energy and curiosity and she loves to play and explore. Her resilience and forgiving spirit are a joy to witness. You cant help but smile when you see her trotting around happily. Betsy loves people and she gets along okay with other dogs. She does tend to be an alpha but she coexists peacefully with other dogs for the most part. Betsy doesnt have any special care needs at this time, she just needs a new family who will treasure her and keep up with her grooming unlike her previous owners.
