Hi there, I’m Happy, and my name is no accident! I’m a 9-year-old gal with a big heart, a gentle spirit, and plenty of love to give. Once I know you’re my person, get ready for some serious happiness! I adore head rubs, belly rubs, kisses, walks, and zoomies in a securely fenced yard. I’m great with other dogs, but I haven’t had enough experience with cats, toddlers, babies, or children to know how I’d feel about them. I can get pretty exuberant when the doorbell rings or when I spot birds, squirrels, chipmunks, or rabbits, so a family ready to help me stay calm will be a happy match. I’m learning leash manners with a harness and working on “stop” and “stay” at corners and curbs. Treats, praise, and a cheerful “good girl” help me put my best paw forward! I’m a smart cookie who enjoys eating kibble from a puzzle bowl, though I prefer moist food because I’m missing many teeth. After a day of adventures, my favorite thing is settling near my people while they relax or work, listening to calm music, and eventually curling up on a dog bed beside their bed for the night. I’m doing well with my house training and continuing to learn, and I’m a very good girl about not chewing furniture, digging in the yard, or counter surfing. I’m not a fan of the crate, though, and I do best with a calm, patient person who won’t leave me alone for long because I can get sad and stressed when my people are away. I’m looking for a patient, kind, loving home that will help me feel safe and secure—and in return, I promise to fill your days with affection, loyalty, and plenty of Happy vibes.
