Maverick — He Was Looking for His People. He Just Needs Them to Find Him Back. Maverick is a middle-aged Belgian Malinois and a Velcro dog in the truest sense of the word. If he loves you, he wants to be exactly where you are — working in the yard, loading up the car, heading out for a run, or doing absolutely nothing on the couch. The activity is secondary. The point is that you are there and he is with you, and as far as Maverick is concerned that is the whole thing. He is great with kids and extremely food motivated, which combined with his intelligence and his eagerness to please makes him a genuinely rewarding dog to work with. He is athletic and fast and loves to run and burn energy, which means an active family who wants a dog involved in everyday life is where he is going to absolutely shine. He is not looking for a family who wants a dog in the background. He is looking for people who want him in the mix, present and included and along for whatever comes next. Maverick can be selective with other dogs, but with the right introduction and the right match he has the potential to share a home with a canine companion. Slow and thoughtful intros are the move — no rushing, no forcing it, just giving him the space to decide on his own terms. One important note on the athletic front: Maverick has been known to hop a fence, so supervised outdoor time or a tie-out is the right call to keep him safe. Belgian Malinois experience or familiarity with the breed is a genuine plus — not because he is difficult, but because people who know the breed understand what they are getting and are ready to meet it properly. Maverick is smart, loyal, and affectionate, and he has so much to give the right family. He has already spent enough time looking for where he belongs.
