Meet Willie, a kind and gentle soul who has overcome quite a journey. At around 3 years old and weighing 30 lbs, he was found as a stray, possibly abandoned, and spent too long wandering the streets. After receiving the care he needed, including heartworm treatment and vaccinations, Willie is on the mend and ready for a fresh start. Willie can be a bit shy initially, but once you earn his trust, he loves being petted, especially behind the ears. Slow movements help him feel more at ease. He gets along well with the calm dogs in his foster home, and even enjoys the company of the resident cat. While he may chase small animals like squirrels or grasshoppers in the yard, he’s learning about boundaries, especially when it comes to his feline friend. Despite his nervousness around new experiences, Willie is learning to enjoy dog toys and has a particular fondness for large chew items like elk antlers. He is house trained and has figured out his crate routine, making tiny noises when he needs to go outside. Willie takes treats gently and is making progress with commands like "sit" and "come." This affectionate boy dreams of finding a forever family that can appreciate his gentle nature.
