Grace Is Ready to Find Her Person Grace is a beautiful 2-year-old Goldendoodle mix, around 50 pounds, with the most gorgeous curly red coat. Her journey hasn't been an easy one, and she's still learning that people can be safe. Grace will allow us to pet her, but she is still very frightened—especially by people who move quickly or unpredictably. And then something pretty amazing happened. Grace chose her person. Out of everyone in the house, she chose my elderly father. With him, we get to see glimpses of the dog Grace is underneath all that fear. She will climb into bed and sleep beside him. She'll settle in the living room and relax near him while he watches TV. She feels safe with his quiet presence and gentle movements. That tells us so much about Grace. She can trust. She can bond. She can feel safe enough to relax. She just isn't ready to do those things quickly. Grace will be spayed soon, and then it will be time for her to find the very special home that will continue what we've started. She needs someone who isn't looking for a dog who will immediately run into their arms. She needs a person who will give without expecting anything in return at first—someone willing to pour love, patience, and kindness into her while she figures out that she's finally home. And someday, when Grace decides that you are her person, I have a feeling it will mean absolutely everything. Grace's forever home MUST have: Another dog — Grace needs a canine companion to help her feel secure and continue building confidence. A securely fenced yard — because of her frightened nature, this is a must. No young children — a quieter, predictable home will be the best fit for her. A VERY patient, loving person who understands that earning Grace's trust will take time. Grace isn't going to be the right dog for every home. But she doesn't need every home. She just needs the one person willing to show her, day after day, that she never has to be afraid again. It's Grace's turn. If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin.
