Ruby is a young, friendly, playful beagle. She was recently returned to the rescue after several months because she figured out how to climb the chain link fence and escape the yard. Almost 2 years old and weighing 24 lbs, Ruby is affectionate and loves food, often jumping in anticipation of mealtime. She is respectful of other dogs’ food and enjoys spending time outside, though she cannot be left unattended due to her escape tendencies. Ruby adores attention and actively seeks it out. She especially enjoys being petted and will gently nudge you to keep the affection going. When not playing, she’s content to relax in her favorite chair or snuggle up next to another dog. Ruby has an excited, high-pitched squeal when she’s on a scent or thinks something exciting is happening outside. She is playful with other dogs and surprisingly rough-and-tumble for her size, often wrestling with dogs larger than herself. While she is generally playful, she can become overwhelmed and growly if another dog approaches unexpectedly, but this is all bravado and not backed by aggression. Ruby is being fostered south of Boston and is available for visits.
