This big, beautiful boy is extremely shy, and extremely sweet once he feels he can trust you. That's a slow process, as Irv needs his space to get used to new environments and even more time and space to trust in you. A quieter home would be A-OK with him. At first, he'll find a safe spot to hide and slowly emerge at night. As he starts to trust, he'll come out more during the day. When he finally decides you are worthy, he'll jump into your lap and let you pet his amazingly soft fur....while trying to steal any food you may (or may not) be trying to offer him. No worries, if you don't understand he wants you to share, he'll "voice" it again so you can hear. I mean, if it's within reach, he'll reach for it himself, so you don't have to go through the extra work. He's thoughtful that way! Irv will happily jump up on the couch for cuddles. He's doesn't require all your attention, as he entertains himself with toys or anything else that could be fun...such as the random cricket roaming around. Who needs an exterminator when they have Irv the Eradicator?!? But...his bravery may end there, as he doesn't like loud noises. He skedaddles if you rearrange, vacuum or clean, and emerges after the chaos is over to wait for attention. He seems to like dogs and other cats and, with slow introductions, probably would be fine with them. He doesn't mind laying down next to a calm dog on the bed with you. Apparently, dogs don't have to work as hard as humans to be accepted by him. If you want a soft-hearted, cuddly cat, Irv is worthy!
