Heeler Mix, Male. 5-6 months old,Ћ-40 lbs Animal ID# 260817K121 Y’all, we are having a WAVE of Heelers come through the shelter lately! 🐾💙 Sweet Alfonso came to us from a hoarding situation, and despite having such a rough start in life, he is the sweetest, most tender-hearted boy. 🥺💕 Alfonso is shy and cautious at first, but give him a little time and he warms up quickly. He absolutely LOVES comforting baby talk, gentle pets, and reassurance—anything that tells him, “You’re safe now, buddy.” 🥹💗 And other dogs really help bring him out of his shell! 🐕🐕 Alfonso enjoys playing with friendly, playful dogs and is polite, appropriate, and sweet with them. You can almost watch his confidence grow when he has a doggie friend around. He actually walks pretty well on leash, but because he can spook easily and try to dart away, Alfonso will need extra care and secure containment while he adjusts to his new surroundings. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful for this boy. He takes treats gently and has such a soft, darling personality. ❤️ The shelter environment is simply overwhelming for him. There’s too much noise, too much chaos, and nowhere for a sensitive boy like Alfonso to truly relax. Give him a couple of weeks in a quiet, loving home to decompress and learn that he is finally safe, and I truly believe this boy is going to FLOURISH. 🌱🏡💕 Alfonso has all the makings of a wonderful family dog—he just needs someone willing to give him the little bit of time and patience he deserves.
